Disney Magic, Mentoring Moments, and Non-Stop Fun in Perth!
On a sunny Perth morning, in one of the city’s many beautiful parks, LYF brought a slice of Disney magic to life for our grand finale of 2024: Big Day Out 4 (BDO4)!
But this wasn’t just any Big Day Out, this was the moment our Year 10 Youth Committee stepped up, took the reins, and created a day filled with unforgettable memories to wrap up another incredible LYF year.
A Disney Dream Come True
What theme did the LYF Youth Committee choose for the day? Disney, of course!
Costumes were encouraged, and our teens and mentors didn’t disappoint. From princesses and villains to superheroes and even Star Wars icons, the park was a vibe of colour and imagination. We even witnessed a few character battles, because what’s a Disney event without a Star Wars character battling a princess?
Disney Fun, Organised by Perth Teens
This year’s BDO4 was entirely planned by our talented Year 10 Youth Committee. These young leaders brought their creativity, leadership, and planning skills to the forefront. They didn’t just dream big, they made it happen!
From brainstorming ideas to organising four action-packed, Disney-inspired activities, their dedication shone through. Groups got to:

- Create snow straight out of Frozen.

- Decorate teapots like we were at the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

- Battle it out in a Star Wars themed capture the flag.
The afternoon? It was all about free time and pure fun: dunk tanks, bucking bulls, and an adorable animal farm.
And the cherry on top? Mr. Whippy rolled in to treat everyone to ice cream. Spoiler alert: It was just as magical as it sounds.
A Farewell to Remember
BDO4 wasn’t just about fun and costumes; it was also the moment we celebrated our Year 10 teens. After years in the LYF program, these amazing young people officially graduated, joining our growing LYF alumni.
The graduation ceremony, complete with inspiring speeches from teen and returning alumni, was an emotional highlight. Their growth, resilience, and dedication shone brighter than Cinderella’s glass slipper.
Congratulations to all our Year 10s, we’ll miss you and can’t wait to see what your future holds!
