Our recent LYF Big Day Out 2 (BDO2) at Glowing Rooms was an absolute blast!
Picture a day of Minigolf, glow in the dark paint and 3D glasses… plus a group of teens packed with energy, creativity, and that unbeatable LYF community spirit.
Perth teens, LYF mentors, and volunteers all came together to make some seriously good memories and connections!

Glowing Mini Golf: Where Fun Meets Connection
One of the coolest parts of the day? Our glowing mini golf experience. Teens split into four squads and moved through four neon-lit, buzzing mini golf rooms, packed with laughs, friendly competition, tonnes of good vibes – and the occasional (but very rare) hole-in-one!
And because we know everyone’s different, we made sure there was a chillout de-stim zone at the front of the venue, a calm spot for anyone who needed to catch their breath and recharge before jumping back in.
It’s part of how LYF keeps our youth programs in Perth inclusive and welcoming for all.
Creative Rotations: Expression, Connection & Growth
After grabbing some tasty lunch, the afternoon was all about switching gears into creative and social rotations that really got the teens expressing themselves and connecting with their mentors and mates.
Bingo & Journaling: this session combined some fast-paced bingo with our journal check in, a bit of friendly competition really saw our bingo game heat up, before we cooled back down with a check in through our LYF Journal.
Clay Creature Creating: Creativity was flowing in the art room where teens got hands-on with creating clay creatures (say that three times fast!), exploring self-expression and creativity.
Gaming & Karaoke: This lively rotation brought heaps of laughs and bonding time, giving teens a chance to chill out, have fun, and build confidence singing their hearts out or playing their favourite games and battle each other out on the big screens.
Each rotation was crafted to help teens build skills, make connections, and feel like they truly belong – exactly what community-driven youth mentoring in Perth is all about.
Social Time & Reflection: Making Positive Memories
But it wasn’t all structured fun, there was plenty of time for young people to make their own fun and adventures as well!
From giant games of Uno and chaotic rounds of Jenga, to chill zones filled with drawing, bracelet making, and heaps more creative vibes.
An arvo slushie break was the cherry on top, chilling everyone out and keeping the good times rolling!
But, before we wrapped up, our Youth Commitee dropped some final words, sending the crew off with big love and high hopes for what’s ahead!
