Big Day Out 2 brought teens and mentors together for another memorable day filled with new experiences, creativity, and plenty of fun.
From activity rotations at Cubetown, a lunch of Japanese bento boxes, to a silent disco and hands-on craft activities featuring beaded shoelaces and journals, the day offered something for everyone. It was another wonderful opportunity for our LYF community to strengthen friendships, share plenty of laughs and create lasting memories together.
Exploring Cubetown
The day began at Cubetown, where teens and mentors took part in six immersive, high-intensity rotations: Vertigo, Swish, Sequence, Pixels, Cubes and Bullseye.
Each rotation presented a different challenge, testing participants’ problem-solving skills, agility, coordination, and ability to think quickly under pressure. Working together, teams communicated, developed strategies, and played to one another’s strengths as they tackled each experience. The fast-paced rotations brought plenty of energy, laughter and friendly competition, making Cubetown an exciting and memorable start to BDO2.
Congratulations to all our rotation winners!
A Bento Box Feast
After an action-packed morning, everyone was ready to refuel with nutritious Japanese bento boxes. Packed with a delicious variety of flavours including beef, kimchi, and enoki mushrooms, the bento boxes were a welcome reward after the high-energy Cubetown challenges.
Lunch gave teens and mentors the chance to slow down, swap stories from the morning’s rotations at Cubetown and recharge together before the afternoon activities.
Silent Disco Fever and a Creative Afternoon
The energy continued with a silent disco, where everyone could choose their own music channel and dance along together.
With headphones on and different songs playing, the silent disco created plenty of entertaining moments. Teens and mentors were on the dancefloor showing off their best dance moves and enjoying the music, it was a fun and memorable highlight of the day.
To wind things down for the end of the day, the afternoon also included designing beaded shoelaces with the Freedom Centre and journalling with Demi Payne.
Our teens had the chance to personalise their shoelaces with colourful beads and decorated journals to reflect their individual styles. These activities gave everyone an opportunity to relax, get creative and make something special to take home as a reminder of the day.
Another Big Day Out To Remember
BDO 2 was filled with creativity, laughter and connection. Whether tackling the challenges at Cubetown, sharing lunch, dancing at the silent disco or designing something unique, everyone contributed to making the day a success.
A huge thank you to the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation for generously sponsoring the day’s events and helping make Big Day Out 2 possible. We are also grateful to the Freedom Centre for coordinating the beaded shoelaces activity, our LYF Alumni Lunch Crew for the feast, and to all the teens, mentors, and event helpers who helped create another fantastic Big Day Out.
Stay tuned for the next LYF event!
